OnlyBets Australia

In short

This is the OnlyBets page for Australian punters. Racing, footy, cricket and live markets sit behind one login, and everything about the account is on this page rather than buried in a menu.

Mobile betting without an app store

The OnlyBets card runs in your phone browser. There is nothing to download, no APK and no waiting for an update on a Saturday morning while the first race jumps.

What OnlyBets covers

Racing first, sport second, and a single wallet behind both.

OnlyBets is built around Australian racing. Every thoroughbred, harness and greyhound meeting in the country is on the card, alongside New Zealand and the major international fixtures, with fixed odds available from early in the morning.

The sports side runs to 32 codes. AFL and NRL carry the deepest markets, followed by cricket, A-League football, basketball, tennis and golf. Multi-builders work across matches in the same code, and every market shows the price in decimal by default with fractional available in settings.

One wallet covers both. Your balance, bonus bets, limits and history live in one place, so OnlyBets does not make you shuffle funds between a racing account and a sports account like some older books still do.

This page is the whole account in one read: the welcome offer, how racing and sport differ in practice, deposits, payout times, the responsible gambling tools and the questions that come up most.

Every meeting

Metro, provincial and country racing across Australia and New Zealand, with fixed odds from the morning.

Clear prices

Decimal by default, fractional if you prefer, with the implied percentage next to every price.

Tools that bite

Deposit limits and a deposit cool-off that apply the moment you set them lower.

The OnlyBets welcome offer

A deposit match in bonus bets, with the turnover kept deliberately low.

Deposit $20 or more and OnlyBets matches it in bonus bets up to $150. Turnover is 3× the bonus amount at odds of $1.50 or greater, and the offer runs for 30 days from the qualifying deposit.

There is no promo code to remember. The match attaches to the first deposit automatically, and a checkbox in the cashier lets you decline it if you would rather bet with your own funds and skip the turnover entirely.

Bonus bets are stake-not-returned. Place a $50 bonus bet at $2.00, and a winning result pays $50 into the balance rather than $100. Every book in the country works this way, but it is worth reading once instead of discovering it on a winning Saturday.

  • Minimum qualifying deposit: $20
  • Turnover: 3× at odds of $1.50 or greater
  • Offer validity: 30 days
  • Bonus bets are stake-not-returned
  • One offer per person, household and payment method

Beyond the welcome offer, OnlyBets runs a rotating price boost on one race or match a day, plus multi insurance on four-leg sports multis where a single leg lets you down. Both are optional and neither requires a code.

Racing at OnlyBets

Terms matter more than the headline price, and they differ more than most punters expect.

Fixed odds open early and move through the day. Each race card shows the barrier, the jockey, recent form and the market percentage, so you can see how heavily a race is over-round before you back anything.

Each-way terms are printed on the card itself rather than hidden in the rules. For metropolitan fields of eight or more, OnlyBets pays three places at a quarter of the odds; smaller fields drop to two places, as is standard.

Protests, scratchings and deductions follow the official rules of racing, and a deduction is applied to fixed odds bets when a runner is scratched after your bet is struck. That reduction is not a decision we make, it comes from the market itself.

Sports markets

AFL carries the widest range: line, total, first goal scorer, quarter markets, player disposals and a multi-builder that lets you combine up to six selections from the same match. NRL follows closely with try scorers, margins and player run metres.

Cricket covers the Big Bash, internationals and the major overseas leagues, with innings runs, top batter and method of dismissal markets. Tennis runs to challenger level, and basketball includes both the NBL and NBA.

Outrights and futures sit in a separate tab so the daily card stays readable. If a market is suspended, OnlyBets shows the reason rather than simply greying it out, which saves a message to support.

Live betting and how it works in Australia

Australian law does not allow online in-play betting on sport. That is a national rule, not a choice OnlyBets makes, and any site telling you otherwise is either offshore or misleading you. In-play bets can be placed by phone, and the number sits in your account.

What does work online during an event is the live odds screen. Prices update as the match unfolds, so you can follow the market and line up a bet for the next available window, and pre-match markets for later fixtures stay open as normal.

Racing behaves differently. Betting stays open until the jump, so the last few minutes before a race are where most of the turnover happens. A fast connection matters there in a way it never does for a Saturday multi.

One rule specific to Australia is worth stating plainly: in-play bets on sport cannot be placed online. Once a match has started, the bet has to be made by phone. That is federal law under the Interactive Gambling Act, not a policy choice by any particular operator, so a site offering you online in-play on sport is a site operating outside the rules.

Deposits, withdrawals and limits

Australian punters care about one number more than any other: how long the money takes to come back.

  • Open the cashier and pick a method in your own name.
  • Deposit from $20. PayID and cards land instantly, bank transfer takes a business day.
  • Bet. Balance, bonus bets and limits all sit in the same screen.
  • Withdraw from $30. OnlyBets approves most requests within a couple of hours.
  • The bank does the rest, usually within 24 hours for PayID and one to three business days for a card.

Credit cards cannot be used for online wagering in Australia, so they are absent from the cashier by design. There are no fees on our side in either direction, and money returns to the method it came from wherever the rules allow.

Reading a price: decimal odds, margin and value

Australian betting runs on decimal odds, and they are the easiest format to think in.

A decimal price already includes your stake. At $2.50, a ten dollar bet returns twenty-five dollars in total, not thirty-five. That is the whole trick to the format, and it is why comparing two prices takes a second rather than a calculation.

Turn a price into a percentage by dividing 100 by it. A price of 4.00 is describing a 25 per cent chance; 1.50 is describing about 67 per cent. Once you can do that in your head, you stop asking whether a price looks generous and start asking whether the chance it describes is right.

Add up the implied percentages across every runner in a race and the total comes to more than 100. That surplus is the margin, and it is how the market makes money regardless of the result. It is wider in a big field than in a two-horse market, which is one reason large-field races are harder to beat than they look.

Value has a narrow meaning here and it is worth keeping it narrow: a bet has value when you believe the real chance is better than the price implies. A favourite can be value and a long shot can be terrible value. The price, not the name, decides it.

Promotions that boost a price are worth taking on a selection you had already decided on. They are worth ignoring when they are steering you into a market you would never have looked at, which is exactly what most of them are built to do.

Multis multiply prices and multiply the margin with them. A four-leg multi is not four small margins, it is one big one. They belong to the small-stake part of a weekend rather than the serious part of it.

Support, disputes and where to complain

Support runs through live chat and email. Chat is quicker for the simple things: a deposit that has not appeared, the status of a verification, a question about how an offer works. Email suits anything that needs a document attached or a longer explanation.

Replies usually land within a couple of hours and at worst inside one business day. The longest queues are on Saturday afternoons during racing, for the obvious reason. A query sent on a weekday morning is almost always closed the same day.

Put your username in the first message, and for a payment include the amount, the method and the time. A screenshot of the bank confirmation usually turns the whole thing into a single reply. Never send your password — it is not asked for and never will be.

If you disagree with a decision, reply with the word Complaint in the subject line. That logs it separately, you get an acknowledgement within 24 hours and a substantive answer within ten business days. It works considerably better than repeating the question on chat.

If the answer still does not resolve it, the licensing regulator in the state or territory named in the terms handles disputes that the operator cannot settle. That route is free, and using it does not affect your account.

Account, verification and responsible gambling

Verification is required by law before you can withdraw, and OnlyBets asks for it once. Doing it at sign-up rather than at your first payout is the difference between money back in hours and money back in days.

Deposit limits sit in the profile and a reduction applies immediately. An increase takes seven days under Australian rules, which is deliberately slow, and OnlyBets does not shorten that window for anyone.

You can also set a deposit cool-off, take a break or self-exclude through the same screen. Support can action a permanent exclusion on request and will not reopen the account afterwards.

Three reasons cover almost every refused withdrawal, and all three are avoidable on day one: documents were never uploaded, the payment method is in someone else's name, or a bonus still has wagering outstanding. Sorting those out before you place a bet removes nearly all of the waiting people complain about.

What punters say

Jarrah, Perth
★★★★★

PayID deposit was there instantly and the payout came back inside a day. Racing card shows each-way terms on the race itself, which saves a lot of guessing.

Bec, Newcastle
★★★★☆

Good sports coverage and the multi builder is decent. Took me a while to realise in-play has to go through the phone, though that is the law rather than their fault.

Tom, Geelong
★★★★★

Bonus bets turned over at 3× which is about as fair as it gets here. Deposit limit dropped straight away when I lowered it.

Getting more out of an OnlyBets account

Four habits that cost nothing and change how a season plays out.

Singles over multis

A multi needs every leg. One considered bet at a fair price is the more durable habit.

Track your bets

A note of stake, price and result tells you within a month which codes you are actually good at.

Stop at the limit

The number you set in advance is the one that matters, not the one you feel like chasing.

  • Bet the code you actually follow. A punter who watches every NRL round has an edge no market data can replace. That edge does not transfer to a European football league watched twice a year.
  • Set the unit before the week starts. One percent of the bankroll per bet keeps a bad Saturday survivable. Stake sizing that follows confidence is the fastest way to end a season early.
  • Read the market percentage. A race book at 118% is a worse proposition than one at 108%, regardless of which runner you fancy. OnlyBets prints that figure on the card so the comparison takes a second.
  • Use the limit, not willpower. A deposit limit set on Monday is a decision made calmly. Willpower at 11pm on a Saturday is not a plan.

Gamble responsibly

Betting is entertainment that costs money, not a way to make it. Set a deposit limit before your first bet, never chase a loss and use the cool-off when a session stops being fun. Free and confidential help is available through the national gambling helpline on 1800 858 858.
